to make things easier and more cohesive, all sea creatures , no matter what layer or ocean they live irl, can go to a different layer or ocean for example, Mariana (my gulper eel char) would normally inhabit the Bathypelagic sector, but she CAN go to the epipelagic or the hadalpelagic if she wants to. this isnt without ANY consequence though. when creatures go up or down far enough from where they 'belong', they can get mild sickness that can be worse for the elderly or young children (its almost like how made in abyss works, just not as extreme). as for the oceans, lets say kwazii (a blue shark) goes to the arctic. it would be similar to someone from, lets say australia, visiting canada. very different temperature and climate, but livable

smaller bodies of freshwater are similar to territories/colonies, and they r usually run by fish that can live in both fresh and salt water. theres lots of salmon in office in many freshwater territories and colonies

ive drawn jellyfish as one of the fish freaks before but i think theyd work better as non-intelligent, regular jellyfish ! same for colonial animals like coral and siphonphores i think. urchins and scallops too
