why was the trend for the entire first half of the 20th century to slick ur hair back to the degree that u looked like u were balding. awful choices. aside from that i love mens fashion of this era specifically. the soft dagger collars you see in the 70s come from trying to emulate the 40s, apparently, because those type of shirts were big in semi-casual and casual 40s menswear. sport coats became a thing too, so of course i had to draw one (in postwar style, because this is a universe where ww2 wasnt a thing. whats a germany. whats a britain). i tried out a cool grey for the coat but i just love the warm tones here it feelsgoodman

for some actual character lore i think this is probably the time where he picks up architecture. hes always been sorta interested, but now hes actually trying to learn. hes been to college already, done that whole thing, doesnt wanna go back unless he has to so he transitions from a manual labor job to an office job of some distinction (i dont know what the 40s edition of data entry is) so he can have more free time to learn architecture. his first plans are really bad. he has no idea what style he even wants to go for. learning on your own is really fskcin hard in an era without the internet, so he basically lives at the library when he's not at work. the librarians like him because he's basically completely silent
