I used to have a lot of internalized homophobia and it felt so dumb because most people have come to the idea that Homophobia is not real anymore and also the trend of being jokingly homophobic desensitized everyone I think

I used to think until recently actually that people having gay fetishes wasn't a big deal until at school this girl idek her she was near our group and she was so angry about the idea of gay men being mad that she as a straight girl has a fetish for gay men and she was so upset and she was like I don't understand why people are so mad that stuff it's just my preference you can't judge me and I instantly was like this seems bad but I can't put my finger on why because she was like I'm a straight girl I like guys so of course I wanna see them kissing and I was like well I didn't say this but in my head I was like it's kind of ignorant to be this upset that a group of people who have had a history of being killed, abused, mocked and hurt over their preferences are mad about your preferences because if anything wouldn't they know the most about how it feels to have their preferences judged? Isn't that kind of ignorant to think you're the being persecuted for what you like??

And honestly I still don't care if you have a gay fetish or not fetishes are normal but it becomes a problem when you're telling everybody about it. Literally anybody would be uncomfortable hearing something like that like if you were talking to someone and they were like I have a fetish for like fat people and I want to see two fat people kissing and you're a fat person would that not be uncomfortable to hear also that was a really bad example

I think straight men being open about their lesbian fetish is worse than straight women being open about their gay fetish because womens bodies are always being objectified by men lesbian or not + Lesbianism is already not taken seriously because men think women are dependent on men or that they can change them Like women lesbian or not are seen as sexual objects for men and I can't tell you how many videos ove seen of straight men asking lesbian couples in public to kiss for them because they like it with no regard for how they feel that's how it always is cuz men think they have the right to women's bodies

Which is why I think its worse because hetero people and men are more privileged than lesbian women but with the gay thing it's like a weird intersectionality thing and I still think it's bad but it doesn't always come with some of the constant harassment and degrading actually it does but it's like significantly less because they're being oppressed because of their sexuality while lesbians are being oppressed because of their sexuality and their gender

And also people think the proper way to respond to a straight woman beingbweird to gay men is using misogyny it's just really complicated

But yea hearing that made me realize not everyone is completely aware of when they or someone else is being homophobic it feels dumb to even type
