LinkI think I’m most nervous of like messing up and putting tack on wrong or something.
Hey man, thats so awesome!!! How long have you been taking lessons for? It sounds like it hasn't been for very long if you're worried about putting on tack wrong. But Im sure you'll be great!!! Tack is confusing at first, but you'll get it. Are you riding english or western? I ride western and bareback as of rn, but I want to ride english SO BAD!!! Whats the breed of horse you ride? Do you own a horse? I love talking to horse people!!
Hey sorry for the late response!!! I went to my lesson 👁👁
I ride English and so far I’ve only had 5 English lessons. Before I did English, I rode western for 3 years :) English tack is a bit confusing, but I do honestly think I like English more than western. I ride a horse a bay mare named Tilly! She’s great, but can sometimes be a little moody lol. I can’t remember what breed she is, but she’s gorgeous. In all honesty, she is one of the most beautiful bays I’ve ever seen irl. (If not the most beautiful) Hbu?
I took lessons from when I was about 3 till I was 7 and then we couldn't afford it anymore, so I had to stop. Then out of the blue my parents bought my horse Gizmo for me last year a bit before my birthday. I was trained on western, and he is DEFINITELY a western horse lmao. Gizmo is an Appaloosa/Paint gelding, he is a chestnut fleabitten gray, heterochromic (blue eye, brown eye), and he is about 10 years old. He's really cool looking, and he has a really chill disposition. Also sorry for the late response, I had to go to work. Also, I am FINALLY starting up lessons again. Im riding this HUGE bay OTTB gelding, and Im kinda scared, due to me currently rebreaking my horse (we had an accident last year, reteaching him everything), and either way he's borderline pony short, so Im nervous haha
Uhh,,, my favorite coat colors would be dappled gray, palomino, and flaxen dark bay tobiano. My favorite thing to do is as of rn trail riding, although I'm going to be learning how to jump soon, and I really want to get into eventing!!!!! And no, I do not. I dont really find barrels or any other western events interesting. Hbu?
My favorite coat colors are grulla paints, red roans, palominos, and I really like badger face markings/bald face markings. My favorite thing to do currently is to post trot :) I haven’t tried eventing yet and the only western event I’ve participated in was mutton busting when I was 8. Also, is this weird? I find it so satisfying to pick horses hooves (unless the just peed on their leg or are being very moody)
I love roans!!!! My cousin has a strawberry roan 😎. Blue roans are my favorite out of the 3 roan types tho. Post trotting is fun!!! I love to canter 🥰. That sounds fun!!! And yes, me too!!!! I LOVE picking hooves!!! Although I'm currently training my horse to let me sob. And my lesson was rescheduled to this Friday, so Im excited for that!!! Shes actually starting me out on English, so thats scary 😅 any tips as an english rider?
Try to keep your hands quiet. What I mean by that is, since you are a western ridder (This doesn’t go for everyone) you probably use your hands to steer a ton. My teacher told me something that made a lot of sense. “You don’t want the viewer to know how you control the horse, you want it to be almost like magic.” So, smaller hand movements :) Also, since you are a western ridder you’re probably going to sit back in the saddle more. Posture is very important in English. Also also, softer turns are usually better :)
