LinkSo your OC was either a student who wanted to become a scientist so they took an internship at a local science lab, or a teen visiting the public part of the lab.
(Case one) they had gone there for like a week, and their superior (the director of the lab) kept telling them not to go into a specific room until they were told they could. At the end of the week, the chief told your OC they could go in, gave them the key, and headed home telling your OC to lock up after they finished. Your OC went in, and the room was full of test subjects, guinea pigs, and failed experiments. In the back of the room there was a giant tube covered in cloth, so your OC lifted the cloth off and found this.
(Case two) after the museum locked up, your OC hid behind a pillar and waited until dark. Then they went into the room.
NOTE: please use a human like OC, as this wwyd happens in a human world where abnormal creatures are failed experiments or just don’t exist.

It just floats, but there is a steady rising and falling of their chest
The tank kinda opened but for some scientific reason that I have just made up the water stayed in place
The thing opened it’s eyes, which were just black holes basically
They looked at him and then the water flooded out of the tank and the thing collapsed on the bottom of the tank, the cables still attached to it
They get up with their legs shaking and point at the cables. One of them is fixed to the back of their head and is blocking their throat
They open and close their mouth, then smile slightly
“Thak yu”
Their pronunciation is a bit off due to having been stuck in the water for so long, and they frown a bit
"alright then" he smiles and pauses before giving them his coat "there, it's pretty cold out"
They cock their head a bit and go to a cupboard where there’s some feminine looking clothes “mine. You not freeze”
They then give thee coat back
Your OC went into the room in which the thing is in lol it’s fine

The thing floats, but there’s a steady movement of their chest rising and falling
The thing is breathing but not conscious, there’s a lever next to the tube to make it conscious again.
