It will actually just eat us. The sun is what's called a "Yellow Dwarf" star, which means its an average sized star. When Dwarf stars run out of hydrogen to burn, they start burning out heavier elements and losing power, which is why tgey shed their layers like a snake, unlike Giant stars (Which explode due to their mass and shit)
