Kalc appears to be a Canon AS-120 Desk Calculator that was left in an abandoned elementary school. It somehow has its own control over its screen, so it can communicate with humans. The calculator can understand most languages and even understands technology. When approached, it displays "Hi :)" on its screen. He does like it when he has human interactions. It will allow you to do calculations, but he says he will get tired after doing all of them.
