ANYWAY

Loud pop music made the entire building shake, and you found yourself gripping onto the cheap plastic picnic table for support. Bright lights flashed, people laughed and shouted and bumped into you, "Why didn't I just stay at home?" You thought to yourself as several people crowded around, screams of excitement and glee rang in your ears, "He's here! He's here!!" A tall, obnoxious bleach blonde girl shouted from the inner crowd, and the people around you seemed to grow louder and more excited, "W-who?" You asked a nearby boy, his black hair slicked back in some kind of crude punk style, "You don't know him?" He replied, pointing at the tall young man that had entered the room. Rick Astley, the local singer. As if to celebrate his arrival, the music changed to something more familiar, "Never gonna give you up-" The speakers started in italics but sadly I cannot use italics so pretend those are in italics. The people, both men and women, swarmed Rick like moths drawn to a flame. Seeing such a famous f

face had made you self-conscious, and you found yourself stepping backward for fear of embarrassing yourself; sadly you had forgotten that there had been a table behind you, and alas, your fate was sealed. You stepped back, and you felt yourself knock into said table; it fell, you along with it, or so you thought. There was a shout, and you felt strong arms grab you, saving you from your beloved suit getting soaked in the knocked over punch. Dazed, you looked up to see the kind, black-brown eyes of Rick, "Are you okay?" He asked, helping you back to your feet, "U-um, yeah, thanks.." You said, quietly. You felt a pink blush bloom across your cheeks and your heart began to quicken its pace, "Thank you." You said again. Rick looked at you, studied you, for a few moments, and to you it felt like hours, before letting you go, "It was no problem." He said finally, his own face slightly pink, before he walked off back into the crowd, leaving you in silence.

You stared at him as the night continued its obnoxious course. People spoke, women flashed you jealous, angry glares, and people began to whisper, making you feel small and self-conscious. You never ran into Rick the rest of the night, making you feel rather disappointed. Finally the party began to come to a close. People had begun to leave, their red plastic cups left on the floor. The entire room was humid and sticky, but still you waited for everyone to leave for fear of them judging you. Why would they judge you for leaving? Not sure, but your mounting embarrassment had began to make you think irrationally, but there was an underlying feeling in your heart that you ignored, that made you stay. What was it? Finally, you left, an unexplained feeling of disappointment as you did so. The sky was black, speckled with stars, and you gazed at it, fascinated, as you unlocked your old, beat up Ford Anglia. You were about to step in when you heard a shout behind you,

"Hey! Stop please!" Said a familiar voice, British accent clear. You turned around, your eyes meeting the other eyes of Rick Astley, "What's up?" You asked, feeling your face heat up again. /Don't make a fool of yourself, don't do it, you already did earlier, don't do it again/ You thought to yourself as Rick seemed to be at a loss for words, "Umm, I didn't quite catch your name." He said slowly, "Oh, I'm (Y/N)!" You replied, wringing your hands awkwardly. There was a pause, an uncomfortable one, before he spoke again, "That's a really pretty name!" He said, before continuing, a bit quieter this time, "So um, would you maybe like to grab a coffee or..something?" You immediately felt your face become hot, an intense red blush blooming; you hoped he couldn't see it in the darkness of midnight, but that "Oh um, sure!! I'd really like that!" You said cheerfully, trying to keep yourself calm, "I'll give you my number!"

Rick smiled, making your heart flutter as you quickly jotted it down on a piece of crumpled note paper you scrounged around for in your bag, "How does, maybe, Saturday sound? 3 o'clock?" He said as you handed the paper to him, "Sounds great to me, I don't have any plans so.. yeah." You replied as you got into your car, "I'll um, see you later then?" "Yeah!! See you soon, (Y/N)!" He said quickly before walking off in the direction of his own car. The entire situation made you feel lightheaded, but excited at the same time. /I'm going on a date with Rick Astley./ END OF PART ONE HOPE Y'ALL RICK SIMPS LIKE IT SO FAR SOBS
