On march 10th (next month nfjsd) I am getting spinal fusion. It is a major surgery. Basically what spinal fusion is is that some of my spinal vertebrae are going to get fused together and straightened with two metal rods. These rods bolt through my spine in small pits on each vertebrae. There will be two rods in my back: one on the left, one on the right. I am getting the surgery because I have scoliosis, a deformity of the spine in which it is curved. If the curvature persists without check I would get breathing problems when im older (because my spine would keep curving until it pressed really badly onto my lung.) please let me know if you have any questions. BUT!! I will only be in the hospital for at least three days. I will be very weak from it (remember it is a major surgery) but i should recover fast. Dont get worried, I'll be alright.

no i have to do it itll be uncomfortable right afterward but the benefits outweigh the risks.

yes! The rods stimulate a straight back. My movement will be a little restricted, but i should be able to bend and stuff like that once my incision heals over.
