LinkSo in your ocs living area there had been an apparent breakout of these weird anthropermorphic moth people
apparently they were "disrupting the town" so they set out some people to hunt them
and your oc decided to join because well, loyalty to their town
one night when they were going to wrangle bug people they chased one into a forest area, although the one they chased was very small as in still "caterpillar state" not yet having wings,
eventually your oc cornered the little thing and it just, stared up at your oc as if seeing if there is any mercy left
lmao wwyd

He sits back slightly
"Sorry- I just- yell. Like a lot. I don't wanna hurt you though! Unless you're an evil mothman spy but I think we've established you're not. Go on, it's for you." He takes a sandwich and some crisps out of his bag and bussies himself making a crisp sandwich for himself, while occasionally looking up to check on the creature.
oh my gosh i need to use a silkwing OC
i have one named Atlas (offsite)
he's a good boi
his wings are orange and gold and have a big white triangle on his wings and a pale yellow underbelly. He has forest greem eyes and his main scales are golden
"Hello?" Atlas called hesitantly. His delicate maroon antennae flickered up to sense vibrations through the air. "Little morphling?" He took a small step closer. "I'm not going to hurt you, small one." He had not been told much about these creatures, but the HiveWings had sent him out to find some, as well as some other SilkWings.

The buzzing grew louder. Atlas cautiously lifted his head. He went pale and covered the moth kid's head with his wings. Three HiveWings flew overhead, each clutching something in their talons. Atlas recognized them as some of the moth-people, their throats slit. He covered the small moth kid's head even more securely until the HiveWings were out of sight with their gruesome loads. Atlas looked sick. He stood, shakily, ant tucked the moth kid onto his back. "Okay!" he said, trying to keep his voice cheerful so the youngling wouldn't worry. "Let's go!" He flapped his wings and they started soaring over the savannah again
((i never thought i'd write the words "gruesome loads" but here we are))
"you weren't supposed to see that," Atlas murmured softly. "I'm sorry."
(this got dark fast)
They flew on, Atlas breathing heavily. He glanced up at the sky and missed a wingbeat, because sunrise was coming. He glided down and landed at the mouth of a sinkhole. In the distance, two Hives loomed above the savannah. Atlas swooped into the sinkhole, which was deeper than he expected. His claws landed unexpectedly with a splash. EYeless fish wriggled away from his talons and he flailed out of the pool of water. He sighed, lying down and spreading his tired wings. "We'll rest here through the day," he told his traveling companion. He dug through his pouch and pulled out a canteen of water. He offered it to the moth kid.
"i know it's hard, but we'll get through this. We will protect your people." There was a rustle behind them, and a creature popped out. Atlas hissed. It was a reading monkey. It squealed when it saw them, but it made no move to escape, its eyes fixed on the moth kid. Before it could leave, Atlas lunged forward and trapped it underneath his talon. It shrieked and tried to wriggle out of Atlas's talon, but he had trapped it firmly. He shot a silk thread, the strong kind used for building webs. He tied up the wriggling reading monkey and sat it down.
Atlas started forward, but suddenly the human growled, "no eating!" and Atlas jumped a foot in the air. His antennae flicked up and twitched in fear. "did- did you just talk to me?" he asked. The human glared at him, its long, curly hair bouncing. "I'm not your snack. And I've always spoken! Let me out of these!"
The human glared at Moth, then turned toward Atlas, its expression turning crafty. "Listen, let me go and I'll call off the other people coming to get that," it jerked its head toward Moth. "That thing's coat is extremely valuable. Why haven't you sold it yet?"
"because they're scared! and their parents died!"
"and? it's just an animal."
"I will literally stop being vegetarian for JUST ONE MOMENT to EAT YOU."
Both the human and dragon stared at Moth for a moment. Then the human started spitting so many curses at Moth that Atlas darted over and covered the human's mouth with one talon. "easy there," Atlas snapped, "there's a kid present."
The human spat at Atlas when he uncovered its mouth. "It's an ANIMAL!"
"so am I," Atlas replied placidly. "You thought I'd eat you, but we all speak the same language. Why are you hunting this species? I don't think they've done anything to you."
The moth suddenly snaps "alright you naked monkey. How about my people start capturing you for uh,, I don't know meat? And don't you produce milk or something? Yeah how'd you like to be kept in a nasty cage to produce your human substances, how'd you like watching your entire family being murdered for doing nothi g wrong but their fuzz?! We never wanted our fur, we never wanted our silk but it's there!"
