An artists entire field of work revolves around them putting their heart and soul into their pieces. To be that vulnerable to the open internet is to make public things no one asked them to. Things such as their gender.which for most queer people on the internet is an integral part of their personality and influences who they talk to and how they present themselves. Gender identity, and how its perceived on a place like the internet influence how people communicate with each other, most notably through third person Pronouns, which are important to every individual who ever walked the earth. Pronouns are something you see in every artists bio these days, as it helps you, the viewer or fan know how to refer to the artist and discuss their works with your friends or peers. (1/?)

And for obvious reason, pronouns and gender identity go hand in hand, they give language to describe each individual in the way they wish to be described and both are deeply personal and mean different things to each individual. Expressing things like gender and sexuality through art has been common since the beginning of time. It gives an artist a window through which to explore their own experiences, ones that are unique and important to them. That is my longwinded explanation to why I believe queerness is so commonly seen in artists communities.
