1st off whenever i draw something, yknow, serious, i add a good background so your point is invalid ecksdee
2ndly whenever im just drawing whatever andbits just a dumb doodle, i add a simple background so it blends well with a simple character.
you dont add super over the top backgrounds to everything, you know.
Ok so your style is completely household's style, maybe change it up a bit?

You could try adding some shading and highlights to somethings.
Experiment with realism here and there just try new things?
Hmmm...
Try drawing things you don't draw really that often. Like teeth for example. Or scales. And like @abcdceese said, try doing some realism every now and then. Whichever you prefer.
Mabey draw more objects. Or people. Maybe try changing up the angels, and mixing up anatomy and features to differentiate ur characters silhouettes. I'm not saying you don't do some of these things, just maybe do it more often.
