I UNDERPAINT !!! W LIKE warmer reddish tone n w my base colour i just carve it out, then i take like, a slightly darker low opacity colour of the base colour n scribble over the entire thing for texture :3 n then i gradually, as it darkens, go more purple, but i add like several tones n colours like warmer purples n darker purples sometimes blues or periwinkle tones :3 N ALSO GRAYSSSS for the grungy, i also like to use random tones to colour some sections of the lineart, N I ALSO !! CROSSHATCH W SOME SHADOW COLOURS NOT JUST THE LINEART COLOUR !! for the gritty texture, n then i just take a super light colour n go on only the highlighted zones a LILLL bc i like keeping it dark its just for depth :3 i dont have a tutorial but i hope,, i hope my written testimony may help u a touch,,,

so like take the base colour and go around the underpainting :3 i cover the entire drawing in a shadow shade then take my ACTUAL base shade n go over it where i think should be highlighted, carving out highlights
