“I’m telling you, that place is worth the money!” “Really? Twenty dollars sounds pretty pricey for a cupcake. Those fruits have to be from God’s personal fruit garden with such a tag!” Your friend, Ruby joked. Ruby has always been analytical with money. So it’s not a surprise that when you told her about your recent experience at that Bakery a few days ago that she was immediately suspicious. “It was a good cupcake! Even the dog liked it!” Ruby straightened herself. “You know what? I bet the place is a coverup; and that they’re secretly a drug dealer thingy and that’s why it’s so expensive! And the food has cocaine in it and that’s why you’re already addicted after one taste!” You couldn’t help but laugh. “Ruby, you couldn’t possibly actually believe that? Drugs are expensive! People don’t just give them away!”

“Well, that would explain why a cupcake kills your wallet.” She pouted as she took a sip from her tea. “Or maybe it’s just because of the quality of the food? Not everyone lives in a D.A.R.E comic or 80’s cartoon.” You joked. You knew that Ruby had an active imagination, that’s what makes the two of you click so well. The dynamic of you two has not failed in the past twelve years, so why would it now? Ruby sat down her cup, the liquid swishing around a bit before settling down with the rest of the matter. “So.” She began. “Hmm?” “Do you remember the little stories we used to make back in kindergarten? And how we kept continuing the story up until the fifth grade?” You smiled softly, remembering the times together as your chest warmed up. “Of course I do! Those were some of the best years of my life!”

Her face shimmered as she was touched by your statement. “I’m glad that I was able to make you happy, and I hope this news makes you happier,” Ruby said with a soft voice. She got up and walked over to her bookshelf and grabbed a paper that was laying on top of it. It was an envelope. “What’s that from?” You asked while peering over her shoulder to see the note better. “I’ve been rewriting our story for the past couple of years, I’ve already told you that, right?” She stated. You nodded. “Well, I recently submitted my ideas to a company in hopes that our story could be out there.” “I-“ You froze. Just imagine, the daydreams they spent recess reenacting just out there for the whole world to enjoy. “Ruby, that’s wonderful!” She glowed. “I know! That’s why I wanted you to be here when I opened the letter. You were just as big as a role as I was in creating this world.”

“Well, what are we waiting for?! Let’s see what’s inside!” Ruby opened the envelope and started reading as you waited patiently by her side. “…” “Ruby…?” “…We got in.” “Ruby!?” “We got in!” She explained. The two of you started jumping and screaming in joy. You did it! Well, Ruby did it. Her dreams of making her stories come to life came true! You were so proud of her! “We have to celebrate!” “How?! Where?!” She asked while still jumping. You smirked at her. “Fine.” She groaned. “I guess I’ll try your crackcakes.” “Great! I’ll race you!” You said as you jumped from the couch and raced outside. “Hey, wait!” She giggled as she chased after you. “I don’t even know where the place is!” “That’s why you have to follow me!” You laughed as you lead the way for her.
