You and Rae were in high school. You both had been friends forever. One night, she comes to your house and chats for a bit. After a long time of chatting and jokes, Rae got pretty silent. You ask her what’s wrong, to which she replies “Do you wanna run away, away from all of this?”

You were a childrens therapist for years. You still were, even now. Kids were always so interesting to you, their brain development and all. You learned to understand them better over the years. But, one night, a mother brings in her son. He’s about 8, 4’6, blond with blue eyes, and very scratched up. He looked nothing like his mother. The mother pulled you aside, telling you she just adopted this boy and that he was being a bit strange to everyone. He just didn’t seem right to the mother. You say you’ll be careful and take the boy in your office for a session. Just you and him, in a room. You put some toys and fidgets out for him, but he doesn’t touch them. When you ask him questions, he doesn’t answer. You ask him if he’s happy to be with his mother and he shakes his head.

You were a babysitter for a bunch of families, but you had fallen in love with this adorable little family. The mom and dad were super sweet, both worked. The youngest son, 2 years old, was well-behaved, and the oldest daughter, 8, was so sweet and loved making new friends. The girl’s name was Sara, and she always made you little bracelets from those little tiny rubber bands. You watched her from from 8 to 9, 9 to 10, 10 to 11. You were babysitting her, but now she’s 14 and her brother is 8. You notice she’s sitting on the tire swing outside, sitting all alone. Her brother, Kyle, is running around the backyard. You walk over to Sara and ask her what’s up, to which she replies with a shake of her head.
