Well when I sketch my drawings, I erase the whole thing with 0.5 opacity so that its barely visible so I can do my lineart nicely. If you are drawing a bright colored piece, go with black lines, if you are doing a warm and soft piece, go with brown lines, if your going for a dark/depressed piece, go with dark blue lines. And also, PRACTICE Lots and lots of practice is very good, even if its just doodles
