Linkthis is just a rant uhghg
It’s like the students here expect me to be 100% Japanese because I'm HALF Japanese. Obviously, I don’t have all the typical features?? 'You’re not Japanese enough!!!' That’s only because they have expectations of what a japanese person should look like
Not only that, but in Japan, students used to make fun of me all the time :/ They assumed I liked Trump for some reason, even though I’m heavily against his actions. They treated me like an outsider because, unlike in the US, Japanese schools has practically NO diversity. Which leaves me as an 'outsider.' Even my Japanese aunt treats me coldly 😀
Because of all this, I feel less and less 'Japanese,' but it feels like I can’t be 'Japanese American' either. Did you know that in Japan, there’s even a word to describe half japanese people? Hafu (which just means 'half' in Japanese). It’s honestly kind of rude? Sometimes, I just wish I wasn’t mixed ughhh

I’m not sure if “living in 2050” is the right way to say it bc it feels pretty normal to me
but imo, living in japan is definitely better! though it also depends on the prefecture
more “modern” and busy prefectures like tokyo or osaka have TONS of malls and people so it gets really crowded there ,,
i don’t know a lot about those prefectures since i dont live there ;—;
prefectures like kyoto and nara are famous for their history and old temples/shrines!
for example nara has places like kasuga taisha and a lot of old shrines + temples
where I live, shimoda (in shizuoka prefecture) is pretty rural since it’s surrounded by mountains AND there’s basically only one train line that goes there
also summers in japan are INCREDIBLY humid and hot
BUTT when it comes to japan, food is ALWAYS number one
it’s way better than most US food (imo)
you can eat raw eggs and fish here (and it’s super safe bc of the food standards) SO GOOD
if you ever go to japan you should definitely try yakiniku (japanese bbq
