Encountering The Maths’ Teacher: If and when you meet this entity, He will welcome you warmly. He will lead you down the numerous hallways of level ‘math class,’ explains the mechanics of the level until you arrive at his room. Upon arrival, you may find other wanderers who got stuck on this level like yourself. *if there are not you may have to wait for there to be three wanderers total* The Maths’ teacher suggests for you to sit down and settle in. He will then ask you to take out a pen and paper, which will be spawned in your lap. He will then start a lesson. This lesson will be one of 15.

Lessons: Each lesson will get progressively harder than the last. There are five lessons to a unit and 3 units that will be taught. They range from a 2nd grade maths level to 9th grade maths level. The requirements for each lesson follows: You must fill at least one side of the paper with notes. If you don’t, you are required to get help from the teacher while other wanderers get a break. 15+ sides of notes are required to pass all units You will then be informed that you will be taking a test. You have 20 minutes to review your notes prior to the quiz. Once you get a perfect score on all three unit quizzes, The Maths’ teacher will take you out to the hall again. He awards you with Royal Rations, then leads you around the halls for a while seemingly aimlessly. You walk into a classroom with an exit sign in front of the door. “This is an exit of this level,” he says. He gives you the option to stay or to go.

Go: If you decide to go, The maths’ teacher opens the portal to The Hub and lets you leave, though he asks you to come visit again soon. Later on in your journey in the backrooms you’ll find letters wishing you well signed from him.

Stay: If you decide to stay, The Maths’ Teacher gives you a hug and leads you back to class. You are appointed as student aid. The job requires you to: Collect materials that spawn into classes. Help grade papers Keep The Maths’ Teacher company. If you get lost, stay where you are! The Maths’ Teacher will come find you! If you get attacked by an entity while doing your job, the teacher will appear immediately to defend you and ward off the attacker. Other entities on the level seem to have a fear induced respect for him even though he’s such a sweet creature.

Backstory- The Scar: The Maths’ Teacher is naturally an incredibly powerful being with the power to manipulate reality within the Backrooms. He had a run in with a highly dangerous level, accidentally killing massive hoards of entities, almost wiping out the whole level of life. (Yes the word spread quickly despite the backrooms being a pain in the ass to travel in) See, he has always been a kind natured being, only killing if he had to. When he realized what he had done, he fell into an absent state of mind. He wandered the level for years and years until he clipped into Level Math Class where he would then take refuge. While he recovered from the injury he had received, he studied the textbooks he found in the desks. Day by day he learnt more and more and grew a passion for math, adopting the name The Maths’ Teacher. After that era, he passionately vowed never to hurt a living creature again.

Properties: Natural Form: This form only appears when The Maths’ Teacher cannot control his emotions, as he tends to bottle them up. He regresses back to the form he manifested during the time he got the scar. It appears as a dark figure with one eye in the center of a triangular head. The eye has a horizontal pupil and a bloodshot sclera. It can appear feral (quadrupedal) or objepromorphic (bipedal). This form is semi-hostile but can be calmed with affection and reassurance.

Power: He has the power to manipulate the plane of existence of which he chooses to reside on, most commonly the 3 dimensional plane. He can only use so much of this power at a time, if he tries to exercise a large amount of power, there is a 50/50 chance of it working. After large amounts of power usage he has to recover for the equivalent of one day on the level. He most commonly uses this power to move things around, transport himself to wanderers or vice versa, spawn in small objects like the pen and paper you use for taking notes in his class, to travel to new levels and occasionally he may use it to float a little bit off the ground. He only uses levitation when the injury on his leg is bothering him.

Profile:

Natural diet: This entity is normally carnivorous, or so we think due to the shape of its teeth. Ever since he vowed never to kill another living thing, however, he just eats whatever he can find. This ranges from pencil lead to old papers and even royal rations. He does drink the almond water that flows through the pipes and water fountains.

Vocalization: This entity naturally emits a loud distorted howl, similar to a whale call. Over time he has learnt to speak English. His voice is still distorted and mid-toned and sometimes he might have more broken English. He can also communicate in sign language. He doesn’t need to open his mouth to speak but he does to eat.

Traits: He has one eye. The white is yellowed and he is slowly going blind due to prolonged exposure to the fluorescent light. His pupil is cloudy and reflective when a light is shined on it. He has two-toed hoofed feet, most commonly described as a dark slate colour. It’s said that he smells of expo markers His head is shaped like a pyramid, has a ridge where the bridge of a person’s nose would be and comes to a point at the snout. He has a short, bony tail for balance as he is very top heavy. He wears half-moon spectacles with a rectangular frame. We can assume he got these from a former “student” who left them behind. The lenses have been altered and are very thick. The glasses don’t have arms. They act like a magnet to the molecular structure of the entity. He has a tendency to lose them.

Traits continued: He appears very skinny. His clavicle and part of a rib structure are visible. He has claw-like hands with four fingers and sharp nails. His hands and forearms are stained with expo marker ink, turning his skin a grey-green color. The underside of his hands and forearms are lighter than the tops because of him using them. The rest of his skin is a light grey with a pale yellow hue. His skin is a soft and slightly leathery texture. He has compact digitigrade legs that fade to fur around the ankles. He has a wide scar on his left leg. Sometimes it can split open if he uses the leg too much. Sometimes he can be found with crude bandages made of carpet wrapped around the wound. The inside of his mouth has ridges and is a fleshy grey. He has 16 sharp teeth and a pointed tongue. He is friends with Mr. Freeman, another friendly entity that resides on level math class.
