LinkNO hate I just find it odd that I was raised this way and didn’t think once to question it
I remember my mom said I needed to be baptized because I wouldn’t be able to soon ( I was like 13/14 ) at the time and I literally hated the idea of being dipped in water as a teenager in front of a bunch of adults made me really uncomfortable- luckily she forgot about it but still
And usually abusive parents will use Jesus to excuse what they are doing- my mom did that but eventually I learned to understand that she was abusing gods name not what god actually advocates for- I’m a omniist or whatever so I believe in all religions to a degree either if I find some of its practices weird or disagreeable
But to say Christianity hasn’t been used by abusers to threaten their victims would be factually incorrect- I even read a story that was required for my 10th grade reading teacher where the protagonist was afraid to tell their mother that her stepfather TW: sexually abused her because she was taught she was impure for experiencing that before getting married or maturing
It was a very informative book I recommend it- I forgot the title though 😞
