One day in the lab on campus Reginald was working on a plant project with a coworker when his boss told him he had 24 hours to 'wow' him. In his desperation he tests on himself. He goes outside into the sun and... It works! He can snack on sunlight! Believing this was a huge scientific breakthough he rushes back to the lab only to get made fun of by his co-workers for he hadent relized that he was turning green and his hair was slowly turning into petals. After about 5 minutes he was a full plant-man. While running away from his coworker he realizes he has some sort of telepathic link with plants. The town super hero is called in the next day to research the dissapearence of Reginald Bushroot, Only to find what seemed to be perfect siluettes of Reginalds coworkers warpped in vines and presumably dead. He decides that Bushroots next move would be to attack his boss but before he goes to alert him Bushroots coworker stops him.

She says that 'Reggie' Would never hurt a fly and that he didnt mean to do any harm. However Bushroot over hears this and is utterly astounded at the fact that she used his nick name and decides that she is obviously in love with him and wants to turn her into a plant to they can be together forever. He kidnaps her and goes to expirement on her when the town superhero basically swoops in and saves the day. Bushroot afterwards was socially exiled, He couldnt get a job, He couldnt go to the store, He couldnt be in the city without someone freaking out. Dejected he finds out about a supervillain group called 'The (soon to be) fearsome five" and joins. Since he couldnt make money he commited petty theft and small white collar crimes, However when he was with the rest of the team he would do small stuff like getting rid off the police station, or tying up the good guys with his arms.

Another thing he'd do is hed always end up almost offing the superhero in the most gruesome ways (Boiled alive in a teabag, Sent through a woodchipper, disintagrated in poison)
