LinkMahendraparvata was an ancient city in the Khmer Empire in Cambodia. It means "Mountain of the Great Indra". It's 25 miles north of Angkor Wat. Archaeologists announced their findings of it using LIDAR in June 2013.
The archaeologists have dated Mahendraparvata back to 802 AD. The city originated during Jayavarman II's reign, who was apparently considered the founder of the Khmer Empire. He reigned on the mountain of Mahendraparvata, which was probably where the city got its name from. The city was once a capital of the empire. The others were Indrapura and Hariharalaya.
That's all I really know, so if you know anything, could you please tell me it?
