Theodore/Carbide, is in the care of the Dooley family, because the hospital couldn't handle him anymore. It's been this way for awhile now, and I'll just put it like,, he's polite to them, he's not taking for granted the fact that they're taking care of him, but all the same... They keep erasing the drawings he makes on the guest room walls, (which he is doing to try to keep his memories alive.) so he freaks out whenever one of them is gone, or he sees one being erased, but he doesn't really say anything because again, they let him play on their piano, he has full access to their house, and they let him eat with them. So he doesn't want to complain about it.
