LinkLike ppl still believe that realism isn’t art and that not true , art isn’t defined by the just the product but by the way it’s made. The effort and skill it takes to make it is what separates it from other types of art

LinkBut just because it’s separated doesn’t mean it’s not used in other ways. Art is supposed to express something if expressing yourself includes drawing something others word deem not artworthy then they’ll be surprised when they hear that art isn’t defined by what others make of it it’s defined by you

I agree and disagree at the same time,
I agree that no are should ever be dis valued or put down simply for being art, but I do feel that some forms of art are much more straining them others and deserve to be recognized for that,
Drawing with markers on paper or drawing digitally is very cool and awesome and does take a long time
But fully carving and polishing wood pieces is much more physical work and much more taxing on your body, So yes, both are amazing and valuable pieces of art, but I think the wood carving is worth more in a monetary value sense, Say you have a small carving of a cat that's sanded and painted, I say that is worth more then a character design done digitally or with markers,
All are has value and should be treated with respect, but some art is more valuable then others, ofc this is also up to the person who's buying the art!
For once I’m gonna say something I have a opinion that might actually be controversial
But I HATE realism as a art
I never follow ppl who make it and it’s something I actively avoid when looking for art inspiration
I understand why realism as a art is useful, if you learn it you are able to apply realistic anatomy and fundamentals towards any other art you might create
But as a piece itself I just
Don’t like it
I don’t hate people who draw it I used to in the past actually but I realize how shitty that was in hindsight
Anyone who draws anything realistic doesn’t deserve hate for it
But I just don’t find it inspiring the same way cartoony art is, it’s mimicking something I see everyday it’s something a picture can take
I never think I will draw realism
I hope this isn’t demotivating for realism artists who do want to draw it but this is just a personal opinion I have
