lets say if it was a group of people. If you attacked 1 of the members of the group. Usually the other group members will help out their friend and consider you a threat, basically if you attack someone you can disrupt a lot of other people that person was friends/allies with. of course this can still be interpreted in other ways but this is how i think of it.
