To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Hazbin Hotel. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of existential philosophy most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Alastor's pessimistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Russian literary realism, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Hazbin Hotel truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humor in Angel Dust's existential catchphrase "Oh, harder daddy~," which itself is a cryptic reference to Albert Camus's French essay The Myth of Sisyphus. I hate Hazbin Hotel
I want you to know I have never experienced as much pure physical rage from consuming a piece of media as I did while watching hazbin hotel. Every joke fell flat, every line was either poorly acted or poorly written, usually both. The characters were all unlikeable and annoying, save for maybe the Snake guy. Every other ****ing line of dialogue drops a swear word as if it's supposed to be funny or edgy humor, when in reality it just shows how ridiculously juvenile and infantile the writers really are. Did you know the creator's twitter bio has, word for word, "Also I swear a lot, sorry!" I have never found something so consistently agonizing to watch. Every five seconds felt lime a dozen minutes, rife with imperfections and issues no real creation should suffer from. I would rather have my eyeballs pulled from their sockets, liquidated, and spoon fed back to me than ever have to think about this intolerable piece of media again.
