Link Henley dashed through the trees, branches slapping her in the face. Her Highland dirk was sheathed, tucked away in her belt. She clutched her flammard, cold open steel held close to her dark leather robe. Bitter smoke tickled her nostrils, her eyes widened and she whipped around.
Behind her, the forest stood still and silent. Her long robe waved in the wind. Her brown, flowing locks flicking in the air. Henley listened carefully for abnormal sounds. The trees bent slightly in the wind. She heard the crunch of leaves, and took off running. Ealdwine Heather burst out behind her, riding gracefully on his horse, followed by two soldiers.
“Halt! I need to kill- Um I mean give you a present!” Ealdwine called. Henley ignored him and continued running. Henley was way past the ‘I need to give you a present’ charade.
Blake joined her side, his black hair a mess. Flesh could be seen through his torn tunic, and his pants were covered in mud.
“Well, that went well, did it not?” Blake

Linkasked, out of breath.
Henley smiled. “Yes, very well indeed.” She caught something at the edge of her eye. Tensing her muscles and prepared for what she was about to do next. Flicking her hand and twisting to the left, Henley sliced off the head of a soldier in armor. The head tumbled onto the ground. No enemy of Henley was safe from her weapons, including herself.
“Nice hit. Quite nice indeed!” Blake said, who had stopped a few feet ahead. Henley picked herself up and walked to Blake. “Many thanks.” Henley said. Trying to catch her breath, she sat down for a moment. Then she heard Ealdwine crashing through the trees. Henley motioned Blake to follow, then stalked through the brush. She climbed up onto an incline, her hands aching. Bending down, she saw Ealdwine searching through the forest. Higher elevation had its advantages. Henley cooly took out her dirk. All hope was not lost.
The knife glowed with warmth. It wasn't supposed to be a thing yet, but her mother had gi

Linkven it to her. “ A highland dirk, very special.” her mother had said. Of course, like every story, her mother died when Henley turned 10.
Henley gripped the dirk firmly and continued to stare daggers at Ealdwine. How dare he chase after his own niece? Psychotic little- Her thoughts were cut off short when Blake poked her arm. “Um, Henley, we seem to have a little trouble.” he whispered. Henley slowly turned around. A red hazy figure stood behind him. Ayakashi raised his spear casually to the right, the point heading down slowly. “My friend, how nice to see you here! How about we feast for a little in the Ghost Realm? Away from away this...conflict you could say.” Ayakashi said the word conflict like kill. His t-shirt and pants really didn't fit the set of the 1400s, but he was a ghost after all. He could travel anywhere, with anyone.
Henley elbowed Blake. “Blake, meet Ayakashi. He is my...um… friend? We have a long history.” Blake stared at Ayakashi. “ Nice to

Linksee you, Blake, I believe?” Ayasaki said, smiling. Henley sighed. Ayasaki was acting. He would usually be silent and, if ever offended, threaten you.
“ Quit the charade, Ayasaki. What do you want?” Henley asked, holding tight onto her dirk. Ayasakis’ spear disperred. He smiled casually. “ Okay, at least I tried.” he replied. Blake was still looking at Ayasaki in wonder. “What is it? Oh.” Ayasaki looked down at his glowing red self, and he lost the color. He developed flesh and human like colors. His dark brown hair was blonde at the roots, which faded into the rest of his hair. His eyes were covered by his anime looking hair. Henley guessed they were probably brown, like his hair. Or yellow. She didn't really know.
Ayasaki looked satisfied with his look. A bow was on his shoulder, and a quiver holding arrows. “Well,” he said, seeming to look straight through her. “I’m here to ask you for help, but you look busy.” Ayasaki tilted his head to stare at the m

Linken hunting for Henley and Blake. Henley bit down a lump of anger. Of course Ayasaki needed help. “What do you need help with?” she asked, tucking her dirk away. Blake had said nothing, focused on the soldiers, deciding to ignore Ayasaki as much as he could.
The ghost frowned. “What's the matter? Do you think I don’t deserve your help?” he said calmly. Henley chide herself. Ayasaki was 10 times better at reading emotions than the average human. Well, that makes sense, Henley thought, he’s been around for… how many years did he say? 100? 120? “No, it’s just- your right, we are kinda busy currently.” Henley said, trying to force an apology out, but she just couldn't. “Well then. Do you… need some help?” Ayasaki said, taking off his bow. Henley looked through the brush. Ealdwine looked irritated, probably tired of looking for Henley. Why?
Henley was next in line for queen. But after she died, Ealdwine who take the place as king. So, Ealdwine was going t

Linko kill her, and say it was an ‘accident’. Henley figured it out pretty quickly, mainly from hanging out with Ayasaki. Ayasaki knew a lot about modern days since he would usually hang out in the 2000s. Heneley learned plenty from him, but any 1400s person would have never suspected Ealdwine of killing Henley. To add onto that, women in the 1400s died pretty young. 30 years or 40. Though 19 was pretty young to die.
One of the soldiers cried out, pointing at Henley. Ealdwine turned to her on his horse. An evil smile carved it’s way into his face. “After her!” he roared, and the party surged towards Henley, Blake, and Ayasaki. The ghost took an arrow from his quiver, and let it fly. It pierced Ealdwine’s horse in the shoulder, and the horse whinnied in pain. Ayasaki’s smile had faded. He pulled out another arrow, and took down Ealdwine’s horse. Blake had taken out his sword, and Henley held her Highland dirk. Ealdwine attempted to jump off the horse before it toppled, but his foot

Linkcaught in the stirrup. Her uncle hit the ground face-first.
Ayasaki looked at Henley. “ We don't have a lot of time. You and your friend need to come with me.” he said, and shoot down another horse. “Now, Henley.”
Henley put her knife away and urged Blake to follow Ayasaki, who was already on the move. The anime ghost headed down the incline, the horses just heading up. Ealdwine sat with one of the guards on a milky white horse. Ayasaki drew an arrow and pulled his bow string tight. Henley stood aside in the trees with Blake, watching to see what Ayasaki would do. She watched in surprised as her ghostly friend disappeared and reappeared behind Ealdwine. The guard looked around in surprise. Right as the armored soldier swiveled his head around to find Ayasaki, an arrow hit his head and went clean through, poking out onto the other side.
The guard fell off the horse. Ealdwine had just barely dodged the arrow, and was struggling to grab the ropes. Henle

Linky ran out of the brush, taking out her flammard. As Ealdwine passed, Henley slipped underneath the horse, digging her sword as deep as she could into its flesh. The mud helped her slip forward, avoiding the dangerous hooves. Panting, she stood up and saw Ealdwine scream in frustration as the horse fell, and he went down with it. Tucking away her flammard and revealing her dirk, she ran up to the horse. When she peered over the great beast, Ealdwine lay unmoving, blood pouring out of his side. Henley put her knife away, and walked up to Ayasaki. The ghost had put his bow back on his shoulder. He faced Henley, frowning. “Get Blake. Tell him we’re leaving. Just me and you.” he dispeered, and Henley was left to tell Blake she was leaving.
