I wear this nametag that has my preferred pronouns on it (they/them) and this old lady comes to my counter and is like asking about the clothing items she was holding and she’s using he/him for me and honestly I didn’t really care at that point bc she seemed to be distracted by the clothes and what not but then she starts calling me a she and so I correct her by saying “I go by they, them ma’am by the way”, and she says no you don’t I don’t believe in that satanic nonsense. And I say “excuse me!?” And then she hits me in the mouth with her ****ing old man cane and is trying to snatch the name tag off me and so I smacked her in the face simply out of self defense and she falls to the ground and starts crying and my coworker is yelling at me and then my boss tells me to go home and im not sure if I’m fired or not but I’m also not sure if I’m the dickhead or not
