Darken shadows that need to be dark, and little highlights where needed and yeah
i said a lot of stuff here about learning lighting, but learning anatomy and how to shade anatomy also majorly helps, as well as studying different materials like fabrics, plastics metals and such to see how they reflect and such
figuring out how to color skin is also a big thing, skin int just one solid tone all over, you gotta figure out what changes and where, there are actually like tone charts online for faces, but that applies all over the body
