Linkso yknow how they made that "apology post"?
now ive asked them if they could address their misusing of aave, what, twice now? I know theyve seen it, because when confronted with it, they just delete it. i dont even want an apology atp but it youre gonna make an apology post at least?? cover the things youve done?? hello?????

Linklike at first i was nice because i mean they probably didn't know, but now theyre purposely deleting the comments when im trying to speak up on it ?? i dunno if theyre trying to make themselves look good but this is definitely not it; if anything this is a microaggression

Linktired that pretending that my culture is something youre allowed to make fun of. Stop.
i have a question abt aave
i am half white half mexican
im not black but ive been raised in an area where ive heard this language used my entire life. is it still alright for me to say any of these words listed for aave? more specifically the ones ive been using or should i stop
As a poc I don’t see why we need to gatekeep words..? Like
I understand things like the N slur or things like that- but I sincerely don’t understand the problem with saying hella or..literally any word on their aave terms?
"most of the time when nonblack people use aave they do so for comedic effect, and also incorrectly. speaking with a blaccent and aave should not be the punchline of your joke. mocking aave and a blaccent is not funny. nonblack people often take from black culture to seem trendy or funny and profit off of it but don't actually deal with the struggles that come with being black and black culture."
Ohhh,, alright- makes sense-
Growing up I didn’t really- like- live with other people of my race? So it’s still so so confusing when I hear people talk about things like this- my friends say I talk all fancy and that I need to cut loose- but I’m not comfortable with it? If that makes sense?
Does that mean I should like- tell y white friends to stop saying these things out of respect orrr- w o t
damn that's extremely microaggressive . imagine ignoring a complete dialect whose words have cultural meaning and go WAY back
In case people start to try to go FERAL against me
It was a joke, plus sometimes I use that stuff in my vocabulary. I am sorry if it offends the small children.
I have grown up around people who say stuff similarly but I never mean harm. The fact you act like I killed someone is absurd.
Yes I am white, but sometimes I use that language as a inside joke.
:)
