I usually take a pic of myself and copy that because the only way to getting the perfect pose is by doing it yourself
As someone who only draws creatures and never ever humans… same, in those cases it works to check some refs on internet and using them along with your pose pic reference and kind of mixing them together in your brain jsjwjsj
Thumb is on the inside, closest to the body. I tend to use triangles and draw the midsection first with the triangles, so the chest and crotch first, then I connect them. This is already better than you think it is. It looks pretty good. I’d recommend using as many references as you need. Pinterest is always fun for poses and tips.
