So Red was 17 at the time and he had just graduated high school. About a week after his graduation his older brother had gone into a slump and his mental health was declining. He told Red that he might not see him again and Red immediately knew what he was gonna do. He chased after his brother but bu the time he got to his brother he was already dead. So yeah... his brother is dead.
