why do artists start or why don't artists start coloring in grey? I have an answer for both but I honestly can't tell which question you have

Super easy to see against a darker or super bright background, also acts as the guiding base of values when you're color blocking in painting cuz grey is the awesome midpoint between heavy values for me I'm not good at rendering first and then doing lighting and bounce light y'see so I use baby's first greys to paint 😛BEEEHHH
