Croy felt the world piece together around him as he gained cautiousness once more. He had fallen, but remarkably, he wasn’t hurt. He moaned, sitting up, looking around. What was once the barn was a pile of black rubbish, a silver-blue light glow in the cracks of the charred wood. The building was completely gone, smoke choking the air.
“Croy?”
Croy picked his head up, listening for who said his name.
It was Spirit, who was standing a few feet away from him. Her face was charged, her iris blue eyes even more piercing than normal. She offered her hand to Croy, who took it, and she held him up. The world around him seemed to spin, but it settled after a few moments.
“Void did this.” Spirit pointed out, looking around the ruins of the barn.
“Yeah… he might be hurt!” Croy cried, and instantly started looking for Void, painiked.
Spirit sighed. “Void doesn’t-”

Link“Can you help?” Croy cried, completely ignoring her protest. Spirit did not move. Croy rolled his eyes, pulling back a large piece of charred wood. Void was underneath, uncautious.
“Void!” Croy cried, almost dropping the wood back on him.
“He is alive” She said blandly, walking over. “Sadly.”
At that, his dark green eye opened slowly, studying the two above him.
“Hi Void!” Croy cried as cheerful as ever.
Void groaned, sitting up. His left eye was swollen shut, a long, nasty scratch covering the side of his face. Croy winced at Void’s face, but said nothing. Spirit studied Void thoughtfully, with a look of fear that was uncharacteristic of her.
“What was that?” Croy asked nervously, helping Void up halfway. Void hesitated, looking around.
“Magic.” He admitted, refusing to look at either of them. Spirit scoffed.

Link “Magic doesn’t exist. If it did, it was destroyed generations ago.” She pointed out, looking skeptical.
Void sighed. “ Look, I don’t know why I have it, but how else will you explain this?” He waved around the ruins of the barn. Spirit said nothing, but one could almost hear her attitude changing.
Croy, despite everything, looked incredibly happy and excited. “Can you teach me?”
“What?”
“Can you teach me how to do magic?” He asked, looking hopeful.
“You can’t be taught magic if you don’t have any…” Void pointed out, looking uncomfortable.
“ But I do! I do have magic!” He said eagerly, almost squealing with joy. Void looked even more uncomfortable.
“What can you do?” Void asked, sounding uncertain.
“ I can talk to trees and I can make fire. That’s all I know how to do.” Spirit stared at the two, terified

Link“Wait… both of you have magic?”
Void sighed. “No, we are just able to summon bright powerful lights that we can control to make our own and will and destroy stuff.”
Spirit glared at him. “Oh ha ha. You do don’t you?”
“What else would it be?” Croy butted in, grinning.
Void sighed, getting up. “Listen, as fun as it is, we should probably leave this place. It is not safe to be around, if you know what I mean.”
Croy nodded, looking around. “Okay so which direction should we go? I mean, we have options.
Spirit rolled her eyes, pulling out a compass. “North. We should go north.”
Void shrugged. “That works for me.”
“Me too!”
Spirit turned away, starting to walk north.
“It's better, because we are sticking with that.”
