if you're a person who's experienced suicidal thoughts or has tried to harm yourself in some way, joking about these things can be a good way to cope with that. i should know, i am one of these people
but IT DOES NOT AND SHOULD NOT COME IN THE FORM OF DEPICTING A CHARACTER COMMITTING SUICIDE AND HAVING THAT BE THE ENTIRE PUNCHLINE

as someone who has suffered from depression for most of the life that i can actually remember, and has tried to off myself several times, this is disgusting. it's legitimately sickening to me that people can draw this stuff and then people can laugh at it and go "luigi noo :(" WHEN HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIE BY SUICIDE EACH YEAR.

Linknot only that but this can be an EXTREMELY TRIGGERING TOPIC FOR A SHIT TON OF PEOPLE? not just for the people who actually go through this shit but through their loved ones! imagine someone you love killing themselves and then having to watch others make fun of the topic as a whole and entirely disrespecting both the person who killed themselves and the people who were affected by that.
hell, personally? every time the topic of death comes up in certain contexts (usually when im not expecting it), my mind immediately jumps to hurting myself which can very easily spiral into action considering how impulsive i am. and i know im not the only one like that.

I take medication for my depression and still have these thoughts at the highest doses, it isn't funny or quirky. It's terrible, especially when things around you dont help. Not funny, didn't laugh, if you laughed, you're a wanker.
i hate people who joke about suicide who have never known what its like to be suicidal holy shit (quick tw here) i tried to literally strangle myself to death once. suicide is not something to make a meme out of. mine and many peoples experiences are not a meme for you people who do this to laugh at hoooly **** man this makes me so furious

as someone who has recently been diagnosed with depression and has had suicidal thoughts before, this honestly pisses me off. It isn't their ****ing place to joke about something that they arent dealing with.
It isn't something to romanticize, or be proud of, it's a constant struggle and to just act as if it is just a joke is a real dick move.
