ok, first off, dont learn japanese from the romanji alphabet! it keads to incorrect pronunciation! instead start learning the sounds for the hiragana and katakana characters! from there pretty much all you need to do it learn kanji / all the words, but you can get by in japan without knowing kanji if you’re not reading anything lol
I have all the sounds memorized. I can pronounce any word in Japanese correctly. And, if I listen to it over and over again, I can sing a song in Japanese. I still need to learn how to read, write, and completely speak it.

fun fact! in japan we dont have characters for the word star, so we use the katakana alphabet, so if you were to write your name in japanese, star-san it would be “セタル！” (setaru) and although it doesn’t translate directly as star it still sounds similar to it! so it can be written in a sentence and used in conversation!
