LinkAlso Monika truly loves you while Makima would not. At least from my interpretation, all Makima really cares for is making the world a safe place and having control over the one thing she is truly obsessed over [the chainsaw devil]

Linkthen the whole story of chainsawman or DDLC would just not happen. They are both keystones in the plots of both of their medias and without them it would just fall apart. Makima wouldn't work in a stereotypical romance VN setting because she is not a romantic person. Monika wouldn't manipulate anybody because the world she is in is real. So she'd just be a nice kind girl.

LinkThe reason why Monika acts the way she does is because she is desperate to find anything that is real. Being in the real world would just have her act how she would normally act. Makima cannot exist in a world that isn't the same as ChainsawMan because her entire character motivations are now gone. In fact, if they had switched places, both of their character motivations would be gone. So they wouldn't have anything to actually DO in the story.

LinkMakimas character motivations wouldn't work because there is no chainsaw devil, and the world is already in a perfect bliss. She also is the one who already controls everything, basically all her character motivations are already fulfilled. The same is for Monika, since she'd just be able to live a normal life as a normal girl.

LinkWell then youre right that it would need to then be an altered sort of swap for the plot to even function but definitely the circumstances can also shape the characters as well since it wouldnt just be some magic teleportation sort of thing to begin with.
For example monika still being the control demon and how that would play despite her actual personality if we assume it still exists in some form despite possible clash with csm lore, or for example the concept of a makima instead of monika in ddlc but considering her existence as in that the player realizes theres a literal ass demon thats messing with your computer for who knows what if you just let it happen. The latter could definitely derive more horror than the former (though its mainly on my part as im not as knowledgeable on csm lore as id like to be)
And of course the medias at that point would be very unrecognizable but the thought experiment at the very least functions in some way or form yknow?
