Kanata and Madara are childhood friends that grew apart due to Madara being forced overseas by his family, which led to Kanata feeling betrayed and abandoned by him. In their initial onscreen interactions, Kanata is shown to treat Madara harshly at times, yet other times he treats him with understanding. Madara comments in Meteor Impact that Kanata is strict towards him, and only him. Madara spends many of their interactions in Enstars! trying to rekindle their past friendship despite Kanata’s briskness. He bends over backwards to help Kanata, going so far as to threaten others [11]. In Purple Wisterias of May, Kanata mentions that when they were kids, he was happy that Madara invited him to play together; and thanks Madara for leaving the Vice President role of RYUSEITAI to him, allowing him to meet Chiaki. Over time, it is shown that Kanata is beginning to warm up to him again after he realizes that Madara did care for him all along.
