Musty feels as if his destiny lies beyond the forest, so he goes off to find who he was meant to be. He becomes a pet and leaves his family. He had a lot of respect for his father and loved living in the forest, yet he didn't think it was fair he was forced to fight wolves he didn't see as enemies. He leaves his sister, mother, and his dear father. He misses them after he leaves, and soon faces the consequences. Once he understands who he is, he comes back to the forest happier than ever, but no longer respected. Musty lives with the guilt of leaving for the rest of his life, but lives a better life than he did after he came back.
