Linkuh since some people can't seem to grasp this concept, there is a DIFFERENCE between OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) and OCPD (obsessive compulsive PERSONALITY disorder)
When you have OCD, you know that your compulsions and behaviors are irrational but usually you still do them to help ease anxiety!!
Most importantly, you know it doesn't make sense and you DON'T *HAVE* TO DO IT
When you have OCPD, you think that your irrational behaviors have an aim and a valid cause, and it's not just anxiety-relieving!!
People with OCPD usually have their own strict sets of rules they follow and most of the time, they expect others to follow them too, even if they don't know what the rules are or even if there are any. They are rigid and inflexible in a lot of aspects!!!
Uhh disclaimer I'm obviously not a professional (duh.) but I've taken a couple college courses on psychology & also this is based mainly off of personal experience. Yeah, um feel free to do with this info what you may, that's about it for n

Link-now
Anyways if you want more info you can always ask me I guess & I'll do my best to help you but please!! remember to do your research!!!
I see lots of stories where some characters have "ocd" but act more like they have paranoid delusions (i'm not saying that can be a part of it, but most of the time it isn't) or ocpd and i'm so tired of misrepresentation in the media!!! please get your facts right!!!!!

LinkUh as an example-
For instance, I'm aware if I don't turn the doorknob three times nothing bad will happen. However it eases a lot of anxiety and I do it even though it makes no sense.
I know if I don't type with perfect grammar 100% of the time nothing bad is going to happen. But it's an obsession of mine, similarly to how some people are obsessed with cleaning/cleanliness, etc. There are different types of compulsions and obsessions, but the media doesn't portray it that way and instead tends to be rather inaccurate just for their own means and purposes. That's something that I find rather Machiavellian (not me referencing Niccolo Machiavelli whenever possible... 👀 /s) and I dislike greatly!!! Please do not do that!!!
There are two key phrases in here that make everything easy to understand
1) Don’t have to follow them (key word: have)
2) ease anxiety vs. aim and valid cause
The fact that some people think like that is disgusting imo. Like... you're romanticizing this which is very harmful, even if it may not seem so, to others who ACTUALLY have it
It is:
1, not letting people who actually have it get help/treatment
2, disinforming (is that a word) people about what it REALLY looks like, not just what you think it looks liek
