saw your comment and to answer your question, yes, due to the superstitions surrounding black cats (bad luck, demons/witches, etc.). they are less likely to be adopted, sometimes people go out of their way to hurt them (but that's true for many cats, no matter the colour of their fur), and are generally more hated than any other fur colour. sometimes they are abandoned because of the beliefs surrounding them.
in the olden days, people would kill black cats and it was legal to do so, and even encouraged.
