LinkI just accepted my fate lmao
Cinderella's foot must have been too small for the shoe before, and then her foot just so happened to groe to the right size by the time she put it on. It could also be because she was transformed, maybe her feet were a little bigger than they should have been so when she transformed, they became smaller, but then when she was running the shoe slipped off due to the slightly too small feet and then while she was putting it on again, she was back to her original figure.

LinkThen the sweat of the slipper could have made her foot slip out, especially since she was running in glass slippers. Or she intentionally left it knowing that he would pick it up and find her again, but she acted like she had lost it in order to keep it a secret.
As an Arkansan, I am also confused on why it's like this.
I think the story is that some guy mispronounced it in the 1800s and everyone collectively said "Oh. I guess it's Ar-kan-saw now."
I think it should be pronounced that way because Arkansas is a southern state according to the Mason Dixon line and to cardinal directions and southern states should have a southern-y pronunciation. Cinderella's shoe probably fell off because she was hurriedly running out of the ball room and it's hard to run in heels. Plus, since she was like a maid for the stepsisters and stepmother that never let her wear fancy clothes, she probably didn't have much experience in wearing stiff high heels. She could've bumped her heel on a step, causing the glass shoe to fling out or accidently have stepped out of the shoe while running. Also, perfect fitting shoes aren't very tight, so apparently they could slide off using a bit of force.
