Mikey: yknow, like a possessed item. Often they are murder weapons, possessed by the vengeful spirits that they where murdered with. You can tell by the kinda glowyness and the ribbon, that's a soul. It doesn't look vengeful, though, but that definitely appears to be a soul knife. Perhaps it's a fragment.
