This tale begins where the other ended, still deep in the wondrous world of Wings of Fire youtube animators. It was also only days after I had downloaded Krita, my first experience with digital drawing. I saw that one of the animators I watched regularly at the time (Rachel the RainWing) uploaded “Ber zer ker (Dream Team + badboyhalo) animation meme” and I thought what the heck is “Dream Team” or a “bad boy” with a halo that doesn’t even make sense! (pathetic. -future me, 2021) Well I watched it. Of course the animation was great but I had no idea who I was watching. (continued, DO NOT TYPE ON THIS CHAIN)

I let it slide, and didn’t give it much thought. Soon enough September came, 2 months after that experience, and by then I had learned from comments on videos that somehow this “Dream” and minecraft, a game I never played, were related. But it was around September that I watched another video, this time by Scorpia (previously Scorpia of the SandWings), called “Exile - Dream SMP Speedpaint (WilburSoot, TommyInnit, & Technoblade” and I thought WHO? The description of that video informed me that this was fanart of a “minecraft fandom that is really cringy” and something about a “L’Manberg”. Once again, the art was incredible, but the name “Dream SMP” made me wonder if it was THE Dream that Rachel had drawn, Scorpia had mentioned, and now EVERYONE was talking about. Well I took a chance and watched my first Dream video. “Minecraft, But We Can Only See One Chunk…” was its name. I can tell you that it sure was funny, but I had no idea what a “nether portal” was, not to mention an “en-der dragon”. I remember after that I watched George’s “Minecraft, But My Friend Is A Horse…” and it was also really funny. And also made no sense. So I don’t really remember what happened in between, but I think I went from Rachel’s amination > Scorpia’s speedpaint > Dream’s video > George’s video > Sapnap’s channel > Bad’s channel > Skeppy’s channel > then finally Technoblade’s channel. The first Technoblade video I watched was “Dream & Technoblade Win the Minecraft Championship w/ Burren & Michael” and ngl I thought he was a whole lot older just cuz of his voice ;-; Anyway this was around October and it was either the same day or around then that I saw he was livestreaming “preparing for the festival (dream SMP)” and by that point I’d kinda forgotten about the Dream SMP because, well, if you haven’t noticed, nobody who I started watching (at least at the time) had uploaded anything that had to do with the DSMP and as far as I knew no one had even mentioned it. But I clicked. And tbh it was extremely boring. That was before I knew he was grinding for stuff for THE festival and- I didn’t even know what this festival was! After poking around on Techno’s channel I found out that his first stream about DSMP was apparently him joining IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL. There was stuff BEFORE this?! I eventually found out that the plot did in fact focus primarily on these Wilbur and Tommy guys but I’d never watched anything of theirs’ before so I felt a little out of my comfort zone. It wasn’t a surprise that I picked Tommy because uh, I’d been hearing rumors that apparently Wilbur’s character went insane?! I mean sure it is for fictional purposes I guess but you can never be too safe right? Well I can tell you that I’d never heard so many swear words in my life before that moment and I just kinda sat there like “welp, do I want to dirty my brain or learn the history of a block world?” Guess what I chose. So after I developed a general idea of the plot from Tommy’s videos I started watching Wilbur’s coverage of the story and it was pretty good! I remember before I actually watched all the plot videos I tried getting into the animatics and everything first cuz art isn’t that bad… right? Well uh, it wasn’t bad until I actually understood all the symbolism and heartbreaking stuff packed into animations just like I’d been into with WOF. Now they kinda hurt a bit... But anyway, some of my favorites that I watched early on and didn’t understand a single thing at first are “The Fall of L’Manburg [Dream SMP War 2 animatic” by Milkinkookiess as well as “Two Birds - DreamSMP Animatic'' by M1STIC BOX. These are the ones that hit hardest today just because I can remember not understanding anything about them before. :)

Anyway that was SO LONG I AM SO SORRY but I wanted to share my story (and also write it down before I forget it haha) and ACTUALLY hat’s off to you if you made it this far I am expecting no one to read all this I don’t know why anyone would care BUT that is the end of my tale! I now love the Dream SMP and all its members’ content and uh, congrats for reading my literal essay! (guys I wrote this all in a google doc and it's almost a *thousand* fricking words why does the writer in me come out at the least convenient moments-)
