Whenever Sydney relives these memories, the trauma temporarily gives back her sanity, and refuses to tell anyone about her backstory, fearing they may lose their innocence if she tells them. If she had stayed the way she was when reliving these memories, she wouldn’t react to them and tell whoever asks her with no remorse.
