LinkHow do you stay so keen and focused on one project in particular? Its not thst I dislike animation, I love it, but I always open a project once, make a few frames, and never touch the animation again.
I'm assuming its due to disliking the starting stage, which is something that I do a lot. Procrastination. So, if you all could lend me some advice and ways to continue an animation with motivation, or any advice for animation, please tell me! I'm all ears. Or.. eyes.
Im being serious when I say this, just imagine what it would look like in the end and strive for that end goal. Imagine how amazing it would look. That's the main reason i stay focused on one project. Another big one is, imagine the attention it would get. But if anything at all, I just love animating too. I stay focused purely because I get in the zone. Idk if any of this made sense. A lot of animators will tell you that they get into the zone when they are really passionate about a specific piece
Split the project into baby steps. Right now, people dive head first into the "money shots" and then have no motivation to do the rest of the project. ANIMATION TAKES TIME, so use that to plan out what you want to do; storyboard, rough keys, tie down, it's all about planning ahead of time before you dive into a huge project. Even with something small it can be planned out too!
I do it because I have fun with it. I know what it's gonna be at the end so I enjoy doing it because I know people are gonna have fun looking at it. I also give myself a deadline. Like...3 weeks for example (all of mine are really small and usually don't go over ten seconds). And I agree with Zacster. Baby steps! You have to trust the process because sometimes you hate it and want to end but most of the time, it's totally worth it in the end!
A wonderful question, man!
Ehh, I never really finished an project,
Either my motivation tells me to keep going or wanting to see the finished product,
I keep going
:D
Animate when you feel like it, but there's definitely the importance of animating when you don't feel like it too
Because it's definitely just that starting phase thats preventing you from even pursuing it entirely, so push past back and watch how the project unfolds the more progress you make on it
The enjoyment comes in it unraveling itself!! Practicing the rational; making sure everything works, ensuring that it's super fun by experimenting and doing new things throughout, you're going to make something new and that's important
