Bruno sat up with a start, looking around at his surroundings. He was in what was supposed to be a road of apartment complexes, but all the buildings where destroyed in one way or another with nature taking its course and reclaiming the land. After Bruno had been sitting for a while there a small object appeared. It spoke quickly and calmly, with a British accent “Hey, you okay there? Do you remember your name?” Bruno looked at it curiously, “Yea, I’m okay, and my name is Bruno-12. Who are you? Where am I?” The object gave an audible sigh of relief, “That’s good. I’m your ghost, and my name is Schrodinger. You are currently in the European Dead Zone, otherwise known as the EDZ. I know you will have other questions, but right now we should get you to the last city. Can you stand up?” Bruno gives a nod, getting up from the ground. “Alright, good. Now we need to get out of here without being spotted, can you get around quietly?”

Schrodinger was hoping Bruno could, but figured they were going to have to fight their way out. Bruno was confused and responded, “I can try, but why don’t we want to be spotted?” Schrodinger had looked around before turning back to Bruno, “Things aren’t as they used to be, its dangerous out here.” Bruno gave a sigh and nodded, starting to walk off in a random direction. “Hey! Where are you going?! We have to go this way!” Schrodinger turned and nodded off in the opposite direction when Bruno looked over.

Bruno asked simply, “Well what’s this way?” The ghost responded with an annoyed tone, “What we are trying to avoid, now come on and let’s get out of here.” Bruno, not fully sure he should trust the ghost, decides to head in the direction he was already heading in. The ghost gave a sigh and followed, “You’re going to get yourself killed.” Bruno just kept walking, and eventually came upon a Fallen patrol. The Dregs looked over at Bruno and fired their shock pistols at him, which hit him square in the chest.

Bruno was shocked, no pun intended, by this and quickly took cover. The patrol moved their way over towards Bruno. Bruno, through needing to survive and an instinct given to him by his new status, summoned a shield on his arm. The shield glistened with a purple light When the first of the patrol moved around to attack Bruno his body moved on its own, tossing the shield at the dreg. The shield connected with the dregs’ neck, slicing its head off. When it connected and consequently killed the dreg the shield emitted an explosion of purple light, killing a dreg around the corner. The shield hit the ground behind the dreg and ricocheted, launching off to the side and out of sight. Bruno heard the shield bounce again and hit another dreg, the dreg yelling out in pain. “The hell was that?” Schrodinger let out a soft chuckle, “That was a shield made of the power of void light. It’s just one of the several abilities you now have as a guardian. Now, let’s focus on getting out of here”

Schrodinger led Bruno to a man named Devrim Kay, who helped the two get to the Tower which overlooked the Last City.
