My step sisters cat Kiki is 17 years old—she got Kiki when she was very young. She was abused before we moved in with my step family. She was always a violent cat, scratching and hissing at anyone who merely walked by her. She went to live with my step sisters mom for a long while. My step sisters mom is no longer able to care for her let alone herself, so Kiki came back to us about a year or so ago. She stays in my step sister room. I hadn't seen her in so long, I was so cautious and scared, but my step sister reassured me she was much calmer now—very old and tired. Today, she is laying on my lap for the first time ever, purring. No hissing, no scratching, no anger. Just purring loudly, a loud old kitty purr.
