Sol woke up to something biting him. He woke up, the world still blurry. It was sunrise, and something brown and furry was biting his leg. His vision cleared, and the same bobcat as he saw last night was biting his leg, blood spewing out. Sol kicked until the bobcat let go, growling.

Sol sighed. He threw his jacket over top of it playfully. The little bobcat walked around with the jacket covering it, making it look like a little moving lump. The lump found its way to Sol’s lap and sat down on it. Sol took the jacket off of the bobcat, who was no longer violently growling. Rather, it was purring, as though all it wanted was Sol’s attention. Sol nudged the bobcat off his lap, stood up, and made a hammock for the bobcat out of his jacket, which he had tied to both of his hands. He encouraged the bobcat to sit on it. The bobcat happily cuddled into the jacket. Sol walked in the opposite direction that he had the night before without even knowing it

Sol eventually was out of the forest. He stared at a corn field glazed with white snow that gave it a sugary look. Sol walked through it, the bobcat still in its hammock, purring like a sputtering motor.

After walking through the field for a while, Sol spotted a small house made of bricks, scrapped by builders. Sol had built the house of all he had found by the side of a small road about a mile away. He stepped into the small hut and closed the door. Sol started a fire and set the bobcat down, untying the jacket from his wrists.

The bobcat sat on a small pile of fabric in the corner. Sol laughed as the bobcat sug into it. He turned around, grabbing a collar he had made for a dog he wanted when he was young. The name tag read Glaze. He put it on the bobcat, who didn’t seem to mind. The collar fit perfectly on the bobcat. “Hello there, little Glaze. I’m Sol.” Glaze licked his face. It made him laugh with joy.
