Linkreminder no.1
in certain situations when you're worried about someone, telling an adult/parent isn't always a good idea, especially when you aren't 100% sure what the person is going through.
it could danger the persons mental stability and make the situation worse

talking about serious/triggering topics such as self harm or anorexia, is a big no-no.
talking about these kinds of things in conversations are usually a bad idea, it could bring up bad memories or remind the person of past trauma or pain, and it makes people very very uncomfortable

people with mental disorders are not stupid!
under no circumstances should you belittle them or treat them like babies, i speak from experience, it's annoying and unneeded, we can understand you just fine, you don't need to talk in a baby voice all the time, im not a child, and i think most people will agree with me on this one

simply telling someone who self harms to stop, or saying its bad is not helpful at all.
it's super difficult to stop once you get addicted, and stopping suddenly can have really bad consequences
i totally agree on number 3.
you should also include that shouting at someone who has mental health issues and just wants some support with it does not help. even if its on here or irl shouting at it can make them feel alone or that no one is there for them or that they are just going to get shouted at when they ask for support and reach out ike its something wrong.
The last one is how I feel with my parents. I have something that I would rather not get into but my parents simply just tell me to stop, or slap my when I do it. (They're not abusive, it's not a hard slap but it pisses me off) I have been doing it for about 4-5+ years now, and it hasn't stopped. But they just keep saying "stop, don't do that, or that's not good for you"
