The orange Queen walked over and wrapped her foreleg around him and started grooming him. Badgerpaw began to stand up. “Huhhhh? Mohoom?” “Today is your Warrior ceremony!” “WAHT!” He shot up. “Yes!” “Finally!” Badgerpaw shot up, and ran into the clearing. Orangedust followed. “All cats who live under the leaves! Come to me!” Sunset walked out of the Medicine Cat den as all the Leafclan cats came out. Beedew swiftly followed as she came out. “We will have TWO new apprentices today. Mintkit, stand up.” The white and brown tabby-patched she-cat padded to the Highbranch. “Do you promise to work hard to become a Warrior and uphold the Warrior Code? Tend to the Elders? And clean?” Mintkit nodded eagerly. “Your mentor shall be Mushroomeye.” Mushroomeye blinked in surprise and walked up to Mintkit. Hivestar spoke again, “You shall be known at Mintpaw. Starclan will guide you.”

Mintpaw bounded up to Mushroomeye. She touched noses with her. After the Clan chanted her new name, Hivestar glanced at Dustkit. “Dustkit. Stand up.” The small brown tom stood up, glancing around. “Do you promise to prepare for battle, take care of your Clan and train?” “Yes!” “You're mentor shall be…” Hivestar glanced around, “Sunse--- Sandfur. Your mentor is Sandfur.” “My father?” “Yes. My mother had trained me, my father had trained my sister and my brother was trained by my aunt.” Hivestar explained, “I see no issue with this.” Sandfur nodded, padding up to Dustkit and touching noses. “Dustkit is now Dustpaw.” Cats chanted his name, it was great. Pride gloated inside the brown tom. “And… We have a new Warrior too!” Cats mumbled and whispered swiftly before Badgerpaw shot them all a glare. Turning his head, he faked an innocent look and smiled, “Yes?" “Badgerpaw. Do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code and protect this Clan with all your life?” “I do.”

“Badgerpaw, you’re a Warrior now. Your Warrior name is Badgerbumble. For respect of your mentor, who’s currently away.” Hivestar sighed, “He’s safe though. I trust Quartzfur.” “Badgerbumble! Badgerbumble! Badgerbumble!” The cats cheered his name. “Oh yeah! Now who’s gonna be my mate?” He laughed. “Oh. You're Bumbefern’s apprentice for sure.” Stingfoot rolled his eyes. “The only she-cats without a mate are Beedew, Hivestar, Sleekshine, and Mintpaw, which are either too old or too young for you.” Blackfoot tapped his tail on the ground. “Dang.” He frowned, “Well. At least I don’t have to clean nests anymore.” The cats began to split up from the meeting. Beedew edged to Sunset. “Can we talk?” She whispered. “Sure.” Beedew nodded, and ran deep into the forest, and into a cave inside a den. She smiled sheepishly, “Would… Would you ever like to have a mate?” Sunset sat down and started to think. “I’m not really sure.” “B-because… I want to be mates…” He cocked his head. “With who?” “You.”

“Wha- REALLY!? But isn’t it against the Medicine Cat Code?” “I don’t care! It doesn't matter!” “Are you sure?” “Yes! I want to have kits, a mate! I want to be normal while healing others!” “But- Are you still going to be a Medicine Cat?” “Why yes I can be both a queen and a Medicine Cat. Bumblefern and you can take my place if things get too hard.” “But I don’t know barely any herbs and Bumblefern isn’t even here!” “I can teach you! And when I’m sure Bumblefern will be back in a few moons at least.” “I guess so…” “So… Will you be my mate?” He thought for a moment. “Yes!” “Yes-! I love you!” Beedew licked his cheek and nuzzled him. He purred. “But no one can know.” “I know… But can Emeraldspeck and Mossheart know when they get back? They could help us.” “I’m not sure…” “Alright…. I won’t tell.”
